Background
Brent
in2 Work is a government funded regeneration organisation working as part
of Brent Council’s Regeneration Unit to address unemployment. Through
our Recruitment & Training Service we work with local businesses,
assisting in the recruitment of new staff through the delivery of
customised pre-employment training courses to find the right people who
can meet an employer’s requirements.
Our Aim
The
aim of the Recruitment & Training Service is to assist an employer to
recruit new staff by supplying candidates who are adequately skilled and
motivated to do the job well. The
service is free to employers.`
Pre-employment
training
Working
with a business we develop and run a pre-employment training course
typically lasting between 3 – 4 weeks. The course will develop and test
candidate’s skills and competencies in line with the requirements set by
the business for their vacancies.
Brent
in 2 Work, employs specialist training providers for each sector or
industry. For example for our Customer Service/ Call centre employers, we
engage a well known specialist training provider to up skill candidates.
So candidates on the training receive top quality, specialist
training at no cost to the Employer.
The
training focuses on refining generic key skills whilst also giving
candidates the opportunity to learn more about the business and specific
details of the work available including the working environment, shift
patterns, operation in teams etc.
After
training, we forward for interview only those candidates who have
successfully completed our course and also meet all of the necessary
standards agreed with, and set by the business.
We
advertise our pre-employment training course extensively through our
partner organisations including local Jobcentres, through our website and
in prominent council public service areas.
All
interested candidates are comprehensively screened through testing and one
to one interviews. We conduct the necessary background checks in
employment history, employment rights and any necessary qualifications
required by the business. We then invite those candidates who meet the
criteria to attend our pre-employment training course.
The
only commitment that Brent in 2 Work requires from the Employer, is to
interview the candidates.
We
currently work with a number of local employers, including LOOT, BAA
Retail, Wembley
Plaza, Wilkinson’s, Tesco, Wembley National Stadium, and many more.

Study - Loot
Brent
in 2 Work’s Recruitment and Training Service have run 2 courses for LOOT
the small ads newspaper, based in Wembley.
Twelve candidates were sent for interview and eight candidates were
offered positions at LOOT.
