| We are a London based consultancy
with a number of
Associates who are independent consultants and all of whom have extensive
practical, hands on experience. Most have been Senior Managers and/or Board Level
Directors in major UK/International organisations.
We are international in our activities and assignments vary from support from single consultants to support from a team of consultants for the larger projects. We specialise in Project Management, Management & Staff Training and Quality Assurance/Total Quality Management. We have particular skills in developing systems and procedures for certification to the International Quality Standard ISO 9000; Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) Programmes for the Food Industry; British Retail Consortium Standard (BRC); Incident/Crisis Management; Efficiency Improvements; New Product/Process Development and Factory Design. BFL Consultants was founded in October 1988. The founder and Senior Consultant, Douglas Brown, received a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree from Reading University, UK, in 1968 and a Master of Science Degree from Cornell University, USA, in 1971. He has worked in most of the countries in the European Union as well as in Lebanon; Lithuania; Moldova; Mongolia; Poland; Russia and the USA. He trained as a Lead Assessor for ISO 9000 in the Dairy Industry and parts of the |
Food Industry with Lloyds Register Quality Assurance. He has also acted as an Assesor for Det Norske Veritas in these sectors. On several occasions he has worked with Scotland Yard when food companies have been the victims of malicious contamination eg adulteration with glass, mercury and rat poisons. As a Senator of Junior Chamber International he is a recognised Senior Trainer and has run training courses in most countries where he has worked. A number of his papers have not only been published in English but also in Polish and Lithuanian. He also gives an annual lecture to Reading University Food Science undergraduates on Practical Quality Assurance. Based in London he was been involved in the creation of The Food Club. This is London's premier self help club for food manufacturers, importers, exporters, wholesalers, distributors, caterers and suppliers to the food sector. The club meets on a monthly basis to hear presentations from leading experts in the food industry and to explore the opportunities for mutual co-operation to enhance profitable growth and market expansion. He also writes a monthly newsletter on aspects of interest to the food sector and contributes articles on food to other publications. |
