A
SUMMARY OF OUR 2006/2007/2008 ACTIVITIES
Overview
The Food Club continues
to increase its areas of activities and the Help Line has assisted with the sale
and purchase of companies; staff vacancies; legal enquiries as well as the many
requests for the sourcing of a large
range of food products and services. We continue to pass business leads to our
Members, enabling them to increase their markets and enhance their businesses.
Our meetings are usually on the first Thursday in each month, from September to
June, at The Tower Conference Suite in
Wembley
Park
. This is part of the
College
of
North West London
and their catering students prepare and serve our dinners.
They enjoy hosting us because this gives them exposure to real 'foodies'
and we enjoy the excellence of their varied cuisine with a different food theme
from around the World each month.
Our
Objective
Our objective is to continue to offer increased
assistance to our Members and widen our scope and range of technical help by
calling upon our group of support consultants whose background and specialities
has assisted many of our members during the year.
We are continually looking for new ways to increase and impart
information for the benefit of our members and are always happy to receive
constructive advice from our members.
Networking at the meetings continues to prove beneficial and has resulted in
increased business between the Members. It
is a very satisfactory situation when companies can increase both their business
and their management skills by making their primary approach to fellow Members
of The Food Club.
The buying power of our members is well in excess of £30 million and
this is attracting the interest of more and more suppliers.

Design, Business Development, Advice regarding Trading Standard issues
and other areas. Many of them have
also provided free assistance to The Food
Club’s Telephone/e-mail Help Line.
Web
Site
The Food Club
web site at www.thefoodclub.org.uk
lists Member’s details and has a live food sector news feed.
We also post on the site a map of the meetings venue, details of The Food
Club Support Team and a summary of our year’s activities.
We have continued to develop links with more organisations and this has
helped us to maintain our high position with the major Internet search engines.
We receive, on average, 16,000 ‘hits’ per month.
Other
Activities
In order to
cope with the increased volume of work being handled by the Administration
Office we have completely upgraded the technology giving us a much wider scope to
deal with the enquiries and keeping us as the largest networking club in the
food industry. We are continuing to foster our relationship with the IFST and
our February meeting saw 25 of their student members attending. We
intend to continue with this initiative and also forge stronger links with the
IFST, possibly with a joint meeting. Our
links with The College of North West London continue to increase. Our web site is
continuing to attract enquiries from many parts of the world and we are always
looking to improve this.
